CSE :Hands-on Workshop on “Block Chain and Solidity Smart Contracts”

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of St Joseph Engineering College organized a two-day Hands-on workshop on "Block Chain and Solidity Smart Contracts” for the seventh semester CSE students on September 23rd and 24th, 2022 from 9:30am to 4:45pm. A total of 16 students participated in the workshop. The resource person for the session was Dr Shashidhar R, Blockchain Researcher, Wipro Technologies, Bangaluru.

Ms Sunitha G, Assistant Professor, CSE Dept, welcomed the resource person and the participants. She gave a brief introduction about the resource person and the purpose of conducting the workshop. Dr Kavitha Mahesh, Incharge HOD of CSE department florally welcomed the resource person.

The resource person started the session by briefing about the blockchain technology and where it is used. He gave information about Hash, Cryptocurrency, P2P network and Digital ledger technology. This was followed by a hands-on session on Metamask, how to create Ether and use it. In the afteoon session, the resource person gave introduction about Smart Contracts and Solidity programming. A hands-on session was conducted on Smart Contracts and Solidity. This was followed by an assignment project using Geth.

On the second day, the resource person gave introduction about blockchain, block propagation, Byzantine Generals Problem, Proof of Work and Proof of Stake. This was followed by a hands-on session using Truffle. In the afteoon session, different projects were made to implement using Dapp. This was followed by hands-on sessions using NFT and Dune Analytics.

The session ended by thanking the resource person for conducting a wonderful session. Mr Wisal Sayeed, student of seventh semester gave feedback about the workshop. Dr Kavitha Mahesh, Incharge HOD of CSE department, felicitated the resource person. Students participated enthusiastically for the whole duration of the sessions. The coordinators of the workshop were Ms Sunitha Guruprasad and Dr Chandra Naik, faculties of CSE department.
