CSE & IIG: Industrial Visit to Infosys, Mudipu

Department of Computer Science Engineering in association with CSI-SJEC Student Chapter, Industry and Innovation Group (IIG) and Infosys Campus Connect, organized an industrial visit to the campus of Infosys at Mudipu, Mangaluru on 3rd March 2020 for the sixth semester students of CSE department. A total of 98 students participated in the industrial tour. Ms Supreetha R – SPOC-Infosys Campus Connect and Ms Chaithra, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, accompanied the students. Ms Sunitha Guruprasad, staff coordinator of CSI-SJEC Student Chapter coordinated the visit.

After an hour long commute to the campus, the person in-charge, Ms Swathi Jogi, Senior Member - Education, at Infosys Limited, welcomed the students and the faculty.  Students were made to gather in an auditorium and given a brief introduction about the company which involved overview about the wide range of products as well as services, work culture and CSR activities carried out by Infosys. This was followed by a brief power point presentation about the path traversed by Infosys. 

The first technical session was covered by Ms Thanuja Rao from education and training department. She gave introduction about infyTQ and developing global delivery model.

Mr Susheel, IT trends project manager of block chain department, spoke about current IT trends. He elaborated on transition from college campus to the corporate life and briefed about the recent and popular trends in IT industry. He also stressed upon the importance of communication skill, thinking out of the box, willingness to lea and adopt new technologies and working in teams by sharing ideas.  He also gave information about block chain and Quantum computers.

Mr Madhukar Nayak, spoke about Machine leaing, AI and Data Analytics. She said that these are current trends in IT field and they would help a lot to the students in future.

Students were given an opportunity to put forward their queries and get information about how the industry works. The sessions were both informative and entertaining and the students leat a great deal about how the industry works. This was followed by a campus tour where the Training Center, meeting rooms and other benefits offered to the employees were shown.

The industrial visit gave all the students an insight about the working of the industry. It also gave them an idea about the work environment of the employees and the various facilities available. The visit was a memorable and encouraging experience for the students.
