The IEI association of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a workshop on ‘Docker basics’ for the II year students of Computer Science and Engineering on November 18, 2019 from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. in the Webinar Hall of the department.
The workshop began with Ms Anusha M M, Assistant Professor in the Department of CSE, Chairperson & CSE Department Coordinator for IEI welcoming the gathering and introducing the resource persons Mr Augustine Correa who runs Hackerspace Mumbai and is a community leader for Docker Mumbai & Docker Mangaluru, Mr Karthik Bhat and Mr Prashanth Shenoy from Unicourt India, Mangalore.
The workshop aimed at introducing the students to containers, virtual machines and running applications using Docker platform. Mr Augustine Correa explained to students about what containers are and the advantages of having a virtualized OS. Students were given access to a ‘Docker playground’ and were taught to create Docker files, containers, build container images and use volumes to persist data.
Dr Sridevi Saralaya, Head of the Department of CSE felicitated the resource persons of the workshop. The session ended with Ms Anusha M M proposing the vote of thanks.
