The Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized a Workshop on "Intellectual Property Rights” on September 24, 2022. The resource person for the webinar was Dr. Purushothama Chippar, Professor & Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SJEC Mangaluru. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness on Intellectual Property Rights among the faculty and researchers of the department and the institution at large.
The program started with the welcoming of the resource person by the convener Dr Kavitha K Mahesh, Associate Professor-CSE. Faculty and research scholars of various departments were present on the occasion. The talk was attended by a total of 32 participants including faculty, and research scholars from SJEC. The subject of the talk mainly focused on Introduction to Intellectual Property Rights, Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, Introduction to Patents - Why to Patent?, Patent-ability Criteria, Patents- Claim Drafting & Interpretation, Patent Search, Copyright & Related Rights, Sensitization of Researchers & Academicians to promote and contribute towards the economy, society and overall future of IP, Commercialisation of IPR-How to commercialize your invention?, role of IPR Cells & Incubators. The workshop was well received and was appreciated by the participants.
