The workshop on LaTex which was organised by the Cipher Association was conducted on August 31, 2019 at St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. A total of 132 students of 5th semester CSE attended this workshop.
The resource persons for the workshop were Ms. Chaitra and Ms. Sona Mundody, Assistant Professors, Department of CSE, SJEC. The session started with Ms.Chaitra and Ms.Sona guiding the students about overleaf an online LaTex editor and already installed document preparation system. Instructions were given to create a report for the project. Students were given the knowledge of how to create the front page, insert heading, sub headings, and insert images. Brief explanation was given about how to insert equations and to create a simple table, combining rows and columns and about captions, labels and references. Further explanation was given to create cover page, add page numbers and templates.
The hands-on session helped the students to get a better understanding of LaTex. The students interactively participated in the workshop. The overall aim of providing knowledge of Document typesetting using LaTex to the students was successfully accomplished.
