EEE: Placement training program ‘PRAYATHNA 2023’

 

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with Training and Placement Cell, organized placement training program 'PRAYATHNA 2023' for the final year students of EEE department. The detailed report is as follows:

The training took place from 03/10/2023 to 09/10/2023 and aimed to enhance the employability skills of our students and prepare them for the competitive job market.

Objective:

The primary objective of the placement training program was to equip our students with essential skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in job interviews and professional environments. The training covered various aspects such as technical skills, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall personality development.

Day 1: Technical Skills Enhancement

Electrical subjects brushed up and GATE level questions solved by Mr Franco Menezes, assistant professor and Mr Sathisha K, assistant professor, dept of EEE.

Workshop conducted by Dr Hareesha B, HOD of MCA department and Mr Murari B K, assistant professor from the department of MCA on C++ programming language and coding practices

Day 2: Technical Skills Enhancement (continued)

Electrical subjects such as Power Electronics and Control Systems were revised and problems associated with these were solved by Mr Ajithanjaya Kumar M.K, assistant professor and Dr Sheryl G Colaco, professor, dept of EEE.

Workshop on C++ programming language continued for day 2 by Dr Hareesha B, HOD of MCA department and Mr Murari B K, assistant professor from the department of MCA

Day 3: Technical Skills Enhancement (continued)

Electrical Machines being a core subject was taken up by Mr Deepesh S K and topics on Digital Circuits solved and clarified doubts by Ms Chaithra Shetty on the 3rd day.

In the afteoon, Workshop on C++ programming language continued with the students being asked to answer a test on C++ and execute programs pertaining to the topics leat.

Day 4: Communication and Mock Interview

Team-building activities and group discussions to enhance interpersonal skills. Ms Preetha Aroza, campus counselor was the main spectator for Group Discussion. Various aspects as to how to start the GD, how to address people and the postures and body language maintained in a GD was discussed.

Followed by, Mock interview sessions with 3 Alumni of EEE dept and our college faculties like Dr. Binu K G, Mr. Sathyendra Bhat, Mr Glenson Tony, Mr Roopesh, Mr Rolvin Sunil D'souzaour, college HR, Mr Rakesh Lobo was organized in the afteoon.

Detailed feedback and constructive criticism provided to each student.

Individual counseling sessions to address specific conces and provide tailored guidance.

Day 5: Resume Building and Interview Etiquettes

Mr Glenson Tony, assistant professor from ECE department took up session on resume building which provided guidance on resume writing, emphasizing key achievements, skills, and experiences.

Personalized feedback and suggestions for improving individual resumes.

Followed by a session on Interview Etiquettes by Ms. Anuradha Hegde, Head HR at Seven Technologies Ltd, Mangalore.

A brief on Interview preparation workshops, including common interview questions and best practices for answering them were discussed.

Case studies and real-life examples illustrating successful career paths in various engineering fields.

Do's and Don'ts in an interview were also discussed.

Outcomes and Feedback:

The placement training program received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and trainers. Participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable insights, practical skills, and confidence gained during the training. The mock interview sessions were particularly beneficial, helping students identify their strengths and areas for improvement.

Next Steps:

In light of the success of this placement training program, we plan to continue organizing such events in the future. We will also explore opportunities for collaboration with industry partners to provide our students with inteships, guest lectures, and hands-on industry experience, further enhancing their employability.

Conclusion:

The 5-day placement training program was instrumental in preparing our 7th semester students for the challenges of the job market. We are confident that the skills and knowledge acquired during this training will significantly enhance their prospects in interviews and future careers. We extend our sincere appreciation to all the trainers, guest speakers, and staff members who contributed to the success of this program.
