Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering under EELS association in collaboration with ISTE organized an Hands-on workshop on "Patent : Prior Art Search” for VII semester EEE students on 17 October 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dr Sheryl Grace Colaco & Ms Madhavi Gatty, Teaching Faculty, Department of Electrical and Electronics were the resource persons.
The objective of the workshop was to provide information about Patent search and analysis of claims. Dr Sheryl Colaco started the session with details of open patent databases available worldwide and gave a glimpse on writing novelty search report. Ms Madhavi explained on performing practical searches in the USPTO, WIPO PATENSCOPE and ESPACENET databases. Different Patent Classification Systems with Novelty were discussed. Students were assisted to carry out hands on search regarding patent related to their field of interest. The session was well appreciated by the students. The session provided valuable insight to perform prior art search and identify novelty in their project work.
