An industrial visit was organised for the 6th semester students of Electrical and Electronics engineering department on 4th march 2025 under eels association and IEEE-SJEC, student chapter. The visit aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of railway electrification and power supply systems.
Around 60 students visited the Konkan Railways Traction Substation at Mulki. The students were divided into two groups and guided by senior section engineers of KRCL-Udupi, Mr. Narayan Nair, Mr. Deekshith Shetty, an alumnus of our college. The students were addressed on 25 KV substation layout, components of the substation, protection systems and remote control of the station. The purpose of a traction substation distinguishing from a conventional was also discussed. The visit concluded with the presentation of a college memento to the senior section engineers as a token of gratitude.
This visit provided students with valuable insights into the real-world application of the theoretical concepts studied under electric traction. It also offered guidance on pursuing a career in the railway sector.
