Practical Training on Domestic Wiring: Enhancing Electrical Safety Skills

The        Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized a Hands-on Training Session on Domestic Wiring as part of a Beyond-Syllabus Activity for 4th-semester EEE students registered in the Electrical Science Elective course – Electrical Safety Practices.

Held on March 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the Electrical Machines Lab, the session was coordinated by Mr. Deepesh Kanchan, Assistant Professor, EEE Department, and Mr. Maxim D’Souza, Foreman, EEE Department.

Students actively participated in designing and assembling circuit connections to power multiple electric lamps. They worked in groups to implement single-pole and two-way switches, incorporating protective devices such as fuses and MCBs in series to understand their importance in ensuring electrical safety across residential, commercial, and agricultural installations.

By the end of the session, all groups successfully completed their tasks within the given timeframe. The workshop provided students with valuable hands-on experience, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications. Participants highly appreciated the session, recognizing its significance in strengthening their practical knowledge and safety awareness
