Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, St Joseph Engineering College in association with IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Bangalore and IEEE SJEC Student Branch Chapter organized the inauguration of IEEE SJEC GRSS Student Chapter and One Day Workshop on “Recent Trends in Satellite Remote Sensing Data Analysis” at Prerana Hall, on October 4, 2024, at Time: 9.15 a.m. The event commenced with dignitaries lighting the lamp, marking the inauguration of the GRSS student chapter under IEEE at SJEC. Dr Jennifer C Saldanha, IEEE SJEC Student Branch Counsellor and
Advisor of the IEEE GRSS student branch chapter welcomed the gathering. The chief guest for the inauguration was Dr Shyam Lal, associate professor of NITK, and chair of IEEE GRSS, Bangalore Chapter. In his address, he mentioned the importance of IEEE membership for students for academic and professional growth. He stressed the importance of networking and collaboration for internship and placement opportunities. He also mentioned the various benefits of joining IEEE GRSS. He called upon students to become active members of IEE
by contributing to technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. The Assistant Director SJEC, Rev. Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, in his presidential address, stressed the advantages of remote sensing technologies in acquiring and interpreting geographical information for agriculture, natural resource management, and weather forecasting. Dr. Dayakshini, Professor & HOD, ECE, SJEC, and Dr. Shilpa Suresh, Assistant Professor, MIT Manipal were guests of honour at the inaugural function.
