Innovate 2025.1

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering in association with IEEE SJEC Student Branch and IEEE SJEC GRSS Chapter organized two days workshop INNOVATE 2025.1: Turn Ideas to Reality on 10-11 October 2025 for III Year SJEC Students.

Day 1: 10th October 2025

The first day of the workshop began with a session on “Ideation” by Mr. David Saldanha, CEO at Aion Health Solutions Pvt. Ltd. He inspired students to think creatively and discussed the process of transforming simple thoughts into impactful ideas. He emphasized identifying real-world problems and developing innovative, technology-based solutions.

The next session, “Converting Ideas to Block Diagram,” was conducted by Mr. Vijay Ganesh P. C., Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE, SJEC. He guided students on how to translate conceptual ideas into technical block diagrams and explained the systematic process of project development from idea to implementation.

After the lunch break, Dr. Binu K. G., Head of Strategy & Planning, SJEC, conducted a session on “Project and Financial Management.” He highlighted key aspects of planning, budgeting, and managing resources effectively in engineering projects, helping students understand the importance of financial prudence in project execution.

The day concluded with a session on “Literature Review” by Dr. Dayakshini, Professor & Head, Dept. of ECE, SJEC. She discussed the methods to search, analyze, and review existing research papers and scholarly works, guiding students to build a strong theoretical foundation for their projects.

Day 2: 11th October 2025

The second day began with a thought-provoking session on “Alignment of Projects with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Introduction to TRLs” by Dr. Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal & Dean-R&D, SJEC. He explained how student projects can contribute to achieving the UN SDGs and introduced the concept of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) for assessing project maturity.

Following this, Mr. Keith Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE, SJEC, delivered a session on “Design Thinking and Ethical Issues.” He elaborated on the stages of design thinking — empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test — and addressed ethical considerations in engineering design and innovation.

After lunch, the final session on “Documentation” was conducted by Dr. Aldrin C. Vaz, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE, SJEC. He guided participants through best practices for preparing technical documentation, including project reports, abstracts, and references, emphasizing clarity and structure.
