Alumni Interaction with Mr. K Mahesh Shetty on ‘Career After MBA’

K Mahesh Shetty, a distinguished 2020 MBA graduate, addressed students and faculty at St Joseph Engineering College on 3rd May 2024 about effective strategies to pursue a successful career post-MBA. Roshni Crasta introduced and welcomed the speaker. The interaction focused on the significance of professional networking, skill enhancement, and workplace ethics. 

K. Mahesh Sir emphasized the importance of building connections on platforms like LinkedIn and maintaining relationships with peers across all levels, including seniors and juniors. He recommended pursuing basic Excel and V-lookup courses on Coursera to enhance technical proficiency, which are critical in the mode workplace.  

Not only this, but he also advocated for switching roles within the same company rather than moving to different companies. He noted this strategy often results in better compensation, leaing opportunities, and career progress.

He advised against taking casual leaves without legitimate reasons, pointing out the negative impact on productivity when used inappropriately. The speaker touched upon the difficulties faced by HR departments, especially conceing layoffs, highlighting the ratio of HRs to employees in the corporate sector in India. At the end, sir also stressed the importance of excelling in both academic and practical skills while being kind and ethical in professional settings.
