The Department of Business Administration at St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, under the banner of its placement initiative UDAAN – Reach for the Limitless, organized a one-day event titled HireWire – A Mock Interview session on 14 June 2025. The event was exclusively designed for first-year MBA students and was held from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Placement Office. The primary objective of this mock interview was to provide students with a realistic interview experience, boost their confidence, and prepare them to face corporate recruitment processes effectively.
A panel of ten accomplished industry professionals from various sectors participated in the event to interact with the students and offer valuable feedback. The panel comprised Diana Bangera (Associate Lead HRBP, Novigo Solutions), Priyanka Kamath (Senior HR Executive, Primesophic Technologies), Krithika Saralaya (HR Manager, Invenger Technologies Pvt Ltd), Ananya Hebbar (HR Manager, Semnox Solutions Pvt Ltd), Divya (Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, EG India), Sunil M Kamath (Vice President, US Based Investment Bank), John Rohan (Client Services Manager, E-SoftSys LLC), Kevin Rebello (Chief of Staff, Cheggout Services Pvt Ltd), Pavan Rai (Senior Manager HR, Novigo Solutions), and Sharan (EG India).
Each student underwent a mock interview session during which they were assessed on key parameters such as communication skills, resume presentation, subject knowledge, and overall confidence. The experts provided one-on-one feedback, highlighting strengths and suggesting areas of improvement, thereby helping students understand industry expectations more clearly. The interaction was highly insightful and well-received by the students.
The event was coordinated by Mr Roopesh, PTG – Department Coordinator, under the leadership of Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean – MBA.. The involvement of the Placement Office Mr Sathyendra Bhat J and Training Head Mr Glenson Toney further contributed to the professional organization of the day’s proceedings.
Overall, HireWire – Mock Interview was a highly impactful event that bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world recruitment processes. It offered students a chance to reflect on their preparedness, improve their performance, and build confidence for future placement opportunities. The department looks forward to conducting similar events in the future to enhance the employability skills of its students.
