As part of the # Beyond the Border Series, the Department of Business Administration, SJEC organised an invited lecture on ‘Global Financial Markets: An Overview’ by Mr. Ashlyn Rohit Castelino on 02 January 2026 for SJEC MBA students. Mr. Ashleyn Rohit Castelino, is currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Analytics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA. He actively engages himself in equity research and AI consulting, combining financial analysis with technical problem-solving, and has led multiple student organizations focused on investing, technology, and professional development. His interests lie in building scalable technology products, applying data and AI to real-world problems, and operating at the intersection of markets, strategy, and innovation.
In the session, Mr. Ashleyn Rohit Castelino introduced the past macro environment at the global level. He discussed the role of emerging markets in international financial markets and the financial instruments that can be traded. He listed growth, earnings cycle, inflation and market volatility as drivers of equities in global financial markets. He emphasised on the growing significance of bond markets in the domestic and international markets.
Mr. Ashleyn Rohit Castelino answered queries from the audience. He advised the students to be invested in the stock market and be knowledgeable about the trends in the global financial market. Ms Deonna Ashel Miranda of I MBA compered the programme.
