One-Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme

 

Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering College in Association with the Branch MSME, Mangalore organized a One Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme on 23 rd February, 2022 to the students of the Institution.

The inaugural function began at 10.00 am; the venue for the event was Spoorthi Hall. The inaugural event began with the invocation by the students of the department. Dr. Prakash Pinto Professor and Dean of the department introduced the chief guest Mrs. Komal Prabhu COO, Maharaja Group of Restaurants) and the keynote speaker Mrs. Shruthi G K Assistant Director Br. MSME DI Mangalore. The chief guest Mrs. Komal Prabhu addressed the gathering by stating that the "Twinkling eyes of students are the motivation for her to achieve more in life" and concluded with the note that the young minds have great potentiality in achieving their goal if guided in the right direction. The keynote speaker Mrs. Shruthi GK in her keynote speech gave an insight on the schemes provided by the MSME to the young minds who want to venture into the world of entrepreneurship. She highlighted the various avenues available for the young entrepreneurs to kick-start their dreams of entrepreneurship.

Dr. Rio D'Souza Principal SJEC presided over the function and mentioned in his presidential address regarding the various projects that college is taking up and the intending to take up in the coming days to create an environment to facilitate the next generation of entrepreneurs.

As the concluding act vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Anjali Ganesh the convener for the programme. Mr. Roopesh Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration was the master of ceremony for the event.

Session 1 began at 10.30 A. M and the speaker of the session was   Smt. Komal Prabhu, COO Maharaja Group of Restaurants, Mangalore. She motivated the students on the tips of entrepreneurship and the challenges faced by the entrepreneurs in the present business context. She shared her live experiences including the failures that she went through in the jouey of entrepreneurship. The session ended at 11.30 A.M with question answers. Vote of Thanks was delivered by first year MBA student, Harshini.

Second Session began at 11.45 AM with the presentation of State Govt Schemes for MSME by

Shri. Vivekanada Rao, Deputy Director, DIC, Mangalore.  He stated that the Govement of India has been proactive to ensure that all the benefit of these MSME schemes reaches to the MSMEs in time. To provide immediate relief to the MSME sector, various announcements (in addition to the various MSME schemes) have been made under the Atmanirbahar Bharat Package.  He highlighted most important ones, which included:

a) INR 3 lakh crore collateral-free automatic loans for MSMEs to buy raw material, meet operational liabilities and restart businesses

b) Revision of MSME definition to extend maximum benefits to the sector

c) Disallowing global tenders in procurements upto INR 200 cr to create attractive opportunities for domestic players

d) Clearing of MSME dues by the Govement and Public Sector Units (PSUs) within 45 days

The session was concluded by clarifying the doubts raised by students at 1.00 PM Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr Anjali Ganesh.

Third Session started at 2.00 pm on Financial Assistance for MSME by Shri. Ravi Kumar, Senior Manager, Canara Bank. He gave insights regarding the various loans and OD facilities that can be availed of by MSMEs. He also stated the challenges faced by the banks in lending advances to MSMEs. The session was concluded with question answers around 3.30 P.M. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr Anjali Ganesh.

The programme was well appreciated by the students.
