A two-day PGCET/KMAT training program was jointly organized by the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Computer Applications, St. Joseph Engineering College, on 30th and 31st July 2024. The program aimed to equip MBA and MCA aspirants with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the PGCET/KMAT examinations. The primary objective of the training program was to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the PGCET/KMAT exam pattern and syllabus. Additionally, the program focused on enhancing problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative abilities, as well as improving general knowledge and English language skills.
In the opening remarks, Dr Prakash Pinto, Professor and Dean, Department of Business Administration highlighted the importance of answering competitive entrance exams in order to get admissions in reputed institutions. He welcomed all the participants and informed to make use of this opportunity to prepare well for PGCET/KMAT exams. The subsequent sessions were conducted by faculty members from both departments, covering the aforementioned subjects in a structured and engaging manner.
The first session on Day 1 began with a focus on computer awareness, led by Ms. Jayashree M, where students explored the fundamentals of binary arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ms. Jayashree covered one's complement, two's complement, and various conversions such as decimal to binary, binary to octal, and decimal to hexadecimal, enhancing students' computational problem-solving abilities.
For the second session, MBA students attended quantitative analysis with Mr. Nelson M. Fernandes, concentrating on ratio and proportion, profit and loss, and other related mathematical concepts, providing practical strategies for examinations and real-world applications. Meanwhile, MCA students participated in a mathematics session conducted by Ms. Rachana Crasta, focusing on key mathematical principles and problem-solving techniques.
The third session featured a general knowledge quiz led by Ms. Prajwala Preema Rodrigues, which engaged students and fostered a competitive spirit. This session aimed to broaden students' awareness of current events and general knowledge, crucial for comprehensive exam preparation.
In the afternoon, MBA students continued with quantitative analysis under Mr. Nelson M. Fernandes, covering topics such as angles and probability. MCA students, however, attended a further mathematics session with Ms. Lauline D'Souza, enhancing their understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
The day concluded with an English session led by Ms. Reshma, designed to improve students' vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension skills, thereby strengthening their ability to articulate thoughts clearly and effectively.
The second day began with a session on computer awareness led by Ms. Nishmitha J and Ms. Rakshitha P. The instructors reviewed basic computer concepts and discussed potential questions related to the topic, providing students with a solid foundation in this critical area.
MBA students continued their training with another quantitative analysis session led by Mr. Nelson M. Fernandes, reinforcing the concepts covered on Day 1 and further developing their analytical skills. MCA students attended a mathematics session with Ms. Salma Shabnam, focusing on advanced mathematical topics and problem-solving techniques.
In the third session, MBA students participated in analytics and logical reasoning led by Ms. Deepthi Dinesh, enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. MCA students, meanwhile, attended a mathematics session with Ms. Aleyamma George, focusing on strengthening their mathematical reasoning skills.
During the fourth session, MBA students focused on analytical ability and logical reasoning with Ms. Deepthi Dinesh, gaining practical insights and strategies for approaching analytical questions. MCA students attended a mathematics session conducted by Ms. Prathiba K. N., advancing their mathematical understanding and skills.
The training program concluded with an overview of both PGCET and KMAT examination (tips and tricks) led by Ms. Prajwala Preema Rodrigues, revisiting current events and general awareness topics to keep students informed and engaged.
