The Department of Business Administration at St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, in association with Finnovate, MarketSense, and EmpowerNet powered by Genesis, organized a student-led event titled “SDGs Unpacked: Learning for Impact” on 17th July 2025 at the Kalam Auditorium. The event aimed to create awareness and inspire action among management students on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a combination of student presentations and expert panel discussions.
A distinguished panel of faculty members comprising Dr Anjali Ganesh-Professor, Dr Babitha Rohit & Dr Shakila B-Associate Professors, and Ms Acharya Chitralekha J-Assistant Professor contributed their valuable perspectives and feedback during the session. Their encouraging remarks and constructive inputs added academic depth and motivation for the students, who presented their understanding of various SDGs with clarity and enthusiasm.
Eighteen student panellists actively participated, covering a broad range of goals and offering fresh insights, research findings, and real-world relevance. The session was moderated effectively by Dean Joshua Rodrigues and Shreya R students of first year MBA, who ensured smooth coordination and meaningful dialogue. The event was well-organized and supported by faculty coordinators Ms Prajwala Preema Rodrigues, Mr Cherian Xavier, and Mr Thilak Gowda, along with Mr Nelson Marwin Fernandes, Genesis Coordinator, whose efforts ensured the event’s success.
Dr Prakash Pinto, Professor and Dean, appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the students’ dedication, highlighting the importance of such platforms in connecting academic learning with global responsibility. Overall, the event fostered leadership, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of sustainable development among students.
