The Department of Business Administration and the Department of Computer Applications of St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, jointly organized a Workshop on Leadership Development themed "Play Learn Lead" for BBA and BCA students. The workshop was held on 11 August 2026 from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm at Spoorthi Hall, AB III, on the college campus. The session was designed to help students understand and build essential leadership qualities through interactive and experiential learning methods.
The workshop was conducted by Dr Ajaya, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Management, Government First Grade College, Haleyangadi, who served as the resource person for the session. Drawing on his academic and professional experience, Dr Ajaya engaged students through a blend of discussions, activities, and real-life examples aimed at fostering leadership thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills among the participants.
The event was coordinated by Mr Shrajan Virupaksha, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, under the guidance of Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean, MBA, and Dr Hareesh B, Head of the Department, MCA. Their support ensured the smooth planning and execution of the workshop, from arranging the venue to coordinating student participation.
Throughout the session, students actively participated in the activities and discussions led by the speaker, reflecting keen interest in developing their leadership abilities. The interactive format of the workshop, in line with its "Play Learn Lead" theme, encouraged students to learn leadership concepts in an engaging and practical manner rather than through conventional lecture-based instruction.
The workshop successfully achieved its objective of introducing BBA and BCA students to key principles of leadership development in an engaging setting. Participants gained valuable insights into leadership qualities such as teamwork, initiative, and collaborative problem-solving, which will benefit them in their academic and future professional pursuits. The event was well received by the students and reflects the continued efforts of the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Computer Applications to provide holistic, skill-oriented learning opportunities beyond the regular curriculum.
