“The Technocrats” - The Students Association of the Department of Computer Applications at SJEC hosted Joshiana 13.0, a prestigious two-day National Level IT Fest. This event was designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those pursuing MCA, M.Sc., BCA, and B.Sc. (CS) degrees, organized under the aegis of the Department of Computer Applications. Joshiana 13.0 provided a dynamic platform for showcasing the skills and talents of the brightest minds in the field.
Joshiana 13.0 was inaugurated on Thursday, 29th August 2024, with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Delwin D’Sa, Manager-Software Development at Riskonnect Services Ltd. The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash Dsouza, Director, SJEC. Guests of Honour were Rev. Fr. Kenneth Rayner Crasta, Assistant Director, SJEC and Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal, SJEC. Other distinguished guests included Dr. Hareesh B, Head of the MCA Department, Mr. Brill Brenhill, Convener for Joshiana 13.0, Ms. Nishmitha J, Co-Convener for Joshiana 13.0, Mr. Jessen Avin Warthika, President of TechnoCrats, and Ms. Neha Dinakar Ail, Treasurer of TechnoCrats.
The ceremony began with a soulful prayer song, setting a serene tone. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed—a symbolic gesture representing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom.
Dr. Hareesh B, the Head of the Department, welcomed the dignitaries and the audience, setting the stage for an unforgettable day. He also introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Delwin D’Sa, Manager- Software Development at Riskonnect Ltd and Chief Guest was felicitated by the Director of the Institution.
Mr Jessen Avin Warthika, the President of the Technocrats, briefed about the events that would be held over the 2 days. The unveiling of the trophies for which the participants were competing against each other was done by the chief Guest.
The chief guest addressed the gathering wherein he emphasized on the adaptability which is the cornerstone of success in the ever-evolving tech landscape. Mr. Delwin D’Sa encouraged students to embrace change, stay curious, and hone their life skills.
Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal, SJEC, Guests of Honor, shared thought-provoking insights. He painted a vivid picture of the future, where current science fiction would seamlessly blend into reality. His words resonated with the audience, inspiring them to push boundaries and envision a world shaped by their innovations.
The President of the function Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza captivated the audience by sharing an inspiring story about Elon Musk. In this narrative, Musk emphasized that dreams have the power to transform into reality. He underscored the significance of collaboration within the industry, highlighting how partnerships and collective efforts drive innovation and progress
The Convener, Mr. Brill Brenhill, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, organizing committee, volunteers, and participants. He highlighted the tireless efforts behind the scenes and set the stage for an action-packed fest.
The events are being conducted by the MCA students over 2 days and the judges have been invited from in and out of the college. All in all, 30 teams have registered for Joshiana 13.0 and around 310 participants are being a part of the fest.
The fest is comprised of 10 events namely –AstroHack(Coding), WebCraft(Web Designing), Interstellar Intellect(IT Manager), Infognite (IT Quiz), Future Wave(Product Launch), Cloaked(Surprise Event), Outlast(Team Event), Fractal Fortune(Treasure Hunt), Stellar Stories(Real Making), and Cosmic Beat(Group Dance). The events are designed to test the technical mettle of the participants.
