Orientation Program-MCA 2025-27 Batch

The Department of MCA organized an Orientation Program for newly admitted students of the 2023–2025 batch from 10th November 2025 to 12th November 2025. The program aimed to familiarize students with the department, academic framework, teaching–learning processes, and campus facilities, while providing insights into industry expectations and institutional values.

The program featured distinguished speakers from academia and industry. Mr. Cedan Misquith, Chief Technology Officer at Grandworks and an alumnus of the 2014–16 batch, delivered an inspiring session sharing his professional journey and highlighting emerging trends such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, IoT, and ethical technology practices. His interaction motivated students to embrace continuous learning, adaptability, and professionalism.

Dr. Jyothi K, Dean of Student Welfare, briefed students on the mentoring system, student grievance redressal mechanisms, and important academic and institutional rules. Ms. Preetha Aroza, College Counsellor, spoke on the importance of counselling, mental well-being, and the services offered under the Jagruthi Committee.

An impactful industry session was delivered by Mr. Lanwil Lobo, Senior Director – Data Science & AI, MResult Technologies, who discussed the transformative role of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence across industries and outlined career opportunities, essential skills, and future trends in the field.

The Controller of Examinations addressed students on examination guidelines, internal assessments, attendance requirements, academic integrity, and transparent evaluation processes, assuring continuous support for students’ academic progress.

Dr. Purushotham Chippar, Vice Principal, SJEC, conducted an enlightening session on Research and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), emphasizing innovation, research methodologies, and the importance of protecting original ideas.

Dr. Sudheer M, Dean of Academics, presented the Academic Regulations and MCA Curriculum Structure, explaining the credit system and evaluation plan in detail.
Dr. Felcy D’ Souza, Librarian, oriented students on the Central Library resources, services, digital library, and e-resources available at SJEC.

The Orientation Program was highly informative and interactive, enabling students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the academic environment, support systems, and career pathways, thereby setting a strong foundation for their MCA journey at SJEC.
