The Department of Mechanical Engineering, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, organized “Prayathna 2025”, a four-day Placement Orientation Programme for the 7th Semester Mechanical Engineering students from 11th to 14th August 2025. The programme was designed to prepare students for upcoming campus recruitment drives through a series of technical sessions, group discussions, resume screening, mock interviews, and motivational talks.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sathyendra Bhat, Placement Officer, SJEC, who emphasized the importance of early preparation, communication skills, and professional attitude in securing successful placements. Over the four days, students participated in domain-specific technical sessions on Thermal, Manufacturing, and Programming, conducted by the faculty members of the department. Group discussions, resume-building workshops, and counselling sessions were also held to enhance students’ confidence and employability skills.

The highlight of Prayathna 2025 was the mock interview rounds. The first round were conducted internally, while the second round involved industry experts and alumni who shared valuable insights and constructive feedback. The external panelists included Mr. Akash A. Shetty, Mr. Carlton Mario Anthony Sequeira, Mr. Bharath Raj, Mr. Anush Shetty, Mr. Jackson Noronha, and Mr. Deshan Johnson D’Souza.

The event received over 95% student participation. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing that the sessions provided a clear understanding of placement expectations and boosted their readiness for interviews. Mr. Sathyendra Bhat, Placement Officer, appreciated the coordinated efforts of the faculty team in making the programme a success. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ravikantha Prabhu (Placement Coordinator – ME), Dr. Binu K. G. (Head of the Department – ME), Mr. Prashanth Kumar K, and Mr. Vinoothan Kaliveer.
