The Department of Mechanical Engineering at St Joseph Engineering College organized its First Inteational Conference under the banner of eTIME-2018 Emerging Trends in Mechanical Engineering, on 10-11 August 2018. The conference was organized in association with AIP Conference Proceedings as Publishing Partner.
 
Dr Sudheer M, Head – Mechanical Engineering and Organizing Chair of the Conference, welcomed the gathering. In his address, Dr Sudheer introduced the Keynote Speakers and welcomed them to SJEC. A brief report about the achievements of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was also presented.
 
Dr Subramaniam Arunachalam, Professor from the University of East London – UK, inaugurated the Inteational Conference on 10 August 2018 and graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr Arunachalam spoke about the need for more collaborative research. He requested the delegates to take active part in the proceedings and go back enriched. Dr John Miller, Retd. Professor from University of Hertfordshire was also present among the audience.
 
Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal – SJEC congratulated the Department on its First Conference and spoke about the need for collaborative research on emerging trends in Mechanical Engineering. He wished all the participants a productive time at SJEC
 
Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director – SJEC presided over the ceremony. In his address, Rev. Fr spoke about the challenges posed by emerging technologies and the need to identify technological interventions to address these issues. He wished all the participants a happy stay at SJEC.
 
Dr Binu K G, Organizing Secretary of the Conference offered the vote of thanks.
 
The conference witnessed the presentation of close to 60 papers on emerging areas in Mechanical Engineering. Delegates from all over the country party participated in the very productive confluence of research.
