Inauguration of First Year BE 2018-2019

 

The inauguration of First Year BE classes for the academic year 2018-19 was held at Kalam Auditorium on Monday, 6 August 2018.

Fr Dionysius Vas SJ, Rector, St Aloysius College and Educational Institutions was the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director - SJEC, Rev. Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director-SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal-SJEC, Dr Ramananda HS, Coordinator for First Year BE, Dr Vincent Crasta, Coordinator of the Induction programme, and Ms Pramila D’Souza, Convener of the programme, were present on the dais.

Dr Vincent Crasta, Coordinator of the Induction programme 2018-2019, welcomed the gathering.

Addressing the newcomers, Dr Rio D’Souza said, "We, the Management of SJEC are happy to welcome this new batch and their parents. We are thankful to you for selecting our campus for your studies. Definitely we will provide you a wonderful study atmosphere. SJEC not only focuses on the studies, but the academic curriculum also gives value-based education, which is helpful for every student’s personal growth. We want the students to grow with responsibility and with human values. It is a great campus to lea and make a successful career."

Rev. Fr Dionysius Vas SJ inaugurated the ceremony and felicitated the students for their PUC and CET achievements. In his inaugural speech, Fr Dionysius said, "Leaing to do, leaing to lea, leaing to become person of character and leaing to live is called education. Today’s world gives three main challenges to students or the young generation. Firstly, it says do not lose your identity. Be original without losing the identity. Secondly, it calls you to be responsible. You are responsible for your own life, family, society and the nation. Thirdly, you need to sacrifice. Without scarifies you cannot achieve milestones in your life.” He further added, “As per my knowledge, SJEC is mainly concentrating on this type of education. That is why every year it succeeds to get talented batches. This college is giving complete freedom to explore, flourish, and extend”.

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, said, "It is my pleasure to welcome you all newcomers to this beautiful campus. Our College understands the challenges of the present students and helps them face it and be successful. With an experienced and professional module, SJEC will help the students to meet their educational needs. I invite students to use the mode infrastructure and green surrounding and do well in their studies. If you are not determined to lea, no one will help you and if you are determined to lea, no one will stop you,”

Ms Pramila D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. Ms Salma Shabnam from the Department of Chemistry and Ms Smitha D’Souza compered the programme.
