The Industry and Innovation Cell of Mechanical Engineering organized one-day Industrial visit for Second year students to “Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited” on 29/02/2020. Total of 26 students along with two staff took part in the visit.
The main objective of this visit is to
Inculcating the basic knowledge about steps involved in Processing of Iron ore.
Experience and understand real life situation in an industrial organization and related environment.
KIOCL Limited (Formerly known as Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited), a Flagship Company under the Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India was formed on 2 April 1976 for mining and beneficiation of low grade iron ore at Kudremukh, Kaataka, India. KIOCL has been a pioneer with over four decades of experience in operating Iron Ore Mining, Beneficiation and Iron–Oxide Pelletisation in the Country. KIOCL is having facilities to operate 3.5 MTPA Iron-oxide Pellet Plant, Blast Fuace Unit to manufacture 2.16 lakh tons per annum Pig iron at Mangaluru, Kaataka. KIOCL is an EoU and a profit making, continuous dividend paying company with a positive net worth and Mini Ratna Category I PSU is also an ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018 certified Company.
Mr. Shiva raja, Head of training division welcomed and briefed us about the company. He showed us videos which gave us lots of information about the company and described the safety measures implemented by the company for reducing the accidents in the working area very efficiently. We then visited the ore collecting center. A stream of pellets discharged by the conveyor and pellets were stored in heaps on the ground. And finally visited the Ball mill where the ore gets crushed into fine particles. We also saw the filtration unit where vacuum filters were used to separate water and Iron Ore.
