The Five-Days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on " Advanced Industrial Automation Leaing with Real-Time Projects " was successfully conducted from 18.04.2022 to 22.04.2022 . The FDP was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with INDWELL Automation Mangaluru. There were about 45 registrations for the FDP and all are actively participated.
Day 1, 18-04-2022, Session 1, 9:30am - 12:30pm:
The Inauguration of the FDP was held in Fr Fred Memorial Hall Academic Block - 1 at 9.30am. Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza presided the inaugural function. Mr Himanshu Kumar, Director, INDWELL Automation, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest. Dr Rio D'Souza, Principal, SJEC and Rev Fr Alwyn Richard D'Souza, Asst Director, SJEC were Guest of Honours. After the inaugural function the session was conducted in the venue: CAMD Lab, Academic block-3.
Topics Covered: Introduction to Automation, introduction to controller, micro controller vs. PLC, PLC block diagram, Ladder Diagram programming language, basic instructions NO, NC, and Coil. Basic programming tricks, basic programs based on truth table, Latch, Flag. Timer, timer-based examples and programming trick .

Day 3, 20-04-2022, Session 1, 9:30am - 12:30pm:
Topics Covered: Introduction to digital inputs/ outputs, wiring concept, SINK/ SOURCE, real time wiring of PLC. Introduction to PLC hardware and software, MITSUBISHI PLC, GX Developer software.
Day 3, 20-04-2022, Session 2, 1:30pm - 04:30pm:
Topics Covered: Practice of programs in Codesys software. Ladder simulation, Visualization.
Programming in GX Developer, communication, program upload/ download, troubleshooting, program modification, Online edit. Project development.
Day 4, 21-04-2022, Session 1, 9:30am - 12:30pm:
Topics Covered: Introduction to HMI, interface with PLC, screen development, digital & analog data configuration, analog data scaling, password level, screen display & Industrial project development.
Day 4, 21-04-2022, Session 2, 1:30pm - 04:30pm:
Topics Covered: Introduction to SCADA, interfacing with PLC, screen development, digital & analog data configuration, analog data scaling, driver selection and configuration, tag creation and configuration & Industrial project development.
Day 5, 22-04-2022, Session 1, 9:30am - 12:30pm:
Topics Covered: Introduction to AC Drive, hardware, parameter setting, speed, direction, acceleration and deceleration time control of induction motor, interfacing with PLC, multispeed & multidirectional control project.
Introduction to Analog system, hardware, block diagram of ADC and DAC application, standard signal, channel selection, AD- DA start, scaling, TO FROM instruction, real time application. Monitored and controlled on SCADA.
Day 5, 22-04-2022, Session 2, 1:30pm - 04:00pm:
Topics Covered: Inteet of Things (IoT): Arduino ide installation, preference link selection, board manager & ASP8266 Wi-Fi driver installation, library manager and library installation, board selection, communication, different IoT platforms, webserver with local area inteet connection, BLYNK phone application for global inteet connection, LED operation through different IoT platforms, Relay operation through different IoT platforms, operation and connection of single phase appliances using IoT, room Temperature and Humidity reading through IoT.
After the session 2, Feedback and quiz was conducted in the online mode. Valedictory of the FDP was held at the venue at 4.15pm. The HOD - ME and Dean R&D distributed the certificates for the participants.
A very good feedback and appreciation about the FDP was obtained from the participants and the FDP has served its purpose.
