The Department of Physics, St Joseph Engineering College has organized a "Faculty Development Program on Applied Physics" for faculty of SJEC and nearby colleges on 8th June 2023 from 9.15 am to 4.30 pm in Spoorthi Conference Hall, 7th Floor, AB III.
The inaugural program was started by invoking the blessings from the almighty. The HOD of Physics Dr Rajesh Kumar PC welcomed the guests and the participants and introduced the chief guest. Dr Chiranjit Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, MIT, Manipal was the chief guest. In his inaugural message he emphasized the need of Biosensors in the field of medical biology and he offered his expertise to work in collaboration with SJEC. Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza was the President for the function and in his message, he requested to use the platform to strengthen the knowledge in the new topics. Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal and the Principal In charge described the need of applied physics in understanding and developing technology.
After the inaugural function, Dr Chiranjit Ghosh presented the talk on Biosensors. He mainly stressed upon the need of sensors in medical field. He showed some Biosensors which he prepared. The talk was well appreciated by all the participants. The second session was presented by Dr Balakrishna Keshava Bhat, Professor, Civil Engineering, MIT Manipal on Natural Hazards and safety. He highlighted on earthquakes and landslides. In the afteoon the third session was conducted on online mode by Dr Uma M S, Professor and Head, Dept of Physics, Jyothi Institute of Technology, Bangalore, where she explained the fundamentals of matrices and Quantum Computing.
Around 25 participants were present for the FDP. Many faculty from the nearby colleges attended the program. The participants were provided tea and food. Ms Anargya, Lecturer in the dept of Physics was the MC for the program. E-certificates were given for all the participants. The program was appreciated by all.
