PHY-EPSILON: Outreach at Schools

Epsilon- Association of the Department of Physics at SJEC - Mangaluru, organized an outreach programme for students of (i) Govement High School, Kannur, Adyar, Mangaluru and (ii) Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Kannur, Adyar, Mangaluru on 27 January 2018. 14 BE students accompanied by five Faculty members of the Department of Physics carried out the outreach programme.

Ms Florine Delphine Crasta, Headmistress, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Kannur, Adyar, Mangaluru welcomed the staff and the students. Around 40 primary and 60 high school students attended the programme. Dr Vincent Crasta and Dr Rajesh Kumar P C briefed the students on the purpose of having the outreach programme.

Ms Pooja, Ms Manisha and Ms Swasthi (Second Year Civil Students) delivered a presentation on various topics along with animations and video clips to the primary school students. Later, the school students were divided into 3 groups for demonstration of various experiments until 1:00 pm.

Ms Vaishnavi, IV E&C delivered a presentation on various topics to the high school students. Later the school students were divided into 4 groups to demonstrate experiments till 1:00 pm.

To end the programme, fun games were conducted to all the students and prizes were distributed. All the students were distributed chocolates. Dr Vincent Crasta thanked the Headmistresses of both High School and Primary School for providing the opportunity to conduct the outreach programme in their schools. Ms Florine Delphine Crasta thanked the faculty and the students of SJEC for educating and inspiring their students.
