During the Eco-Conscious Campus Drive on 12th December 2025, students visited 1st & 2nd year classrooms and delivered an interactive awareness talk focusing on the importance of waste segregation, responsible waste disposal, and maintaining overall campus hygiene. They highlighted the correct use of green, blue, and red bins and explained how mixing waste leads to increased pollution, difficulty in recycling, and unnecessary burden on housekeeping staff. The volunteers also addressed common issues observed in the cafeteria, such as leaving plates, cups, and wrappers unattended, which not only affects cleanliness but also attracts pests and poses risks to campus animals. Students emphasized that a clean environment reflects the culture and discipline of the institution and that every individual plays a role in maintaining it. To make the session more engaging, they also conducted a small quiz related to campus cleanliness and sustainability, and distributed chocolates to the winners as a gesture of appreciation. They further motivated students to adopt simple yet impactful habits such as using the correct bin, avoiding food wastage, carrying reusable bottles, reporting unclean areas, and collectively discouraging littering among peers. Through these efforts, the drive aimed to inspire a sense of ownership and responsibility, strengthening the commitment of the SJEC community toward building and sustaining a clean, green, and environmentally conscious campus.
