As part of the Earth Day initiatives, an awareness program titled “Powering the Future: The Call to Action” was organized on 22nd March 2025 at Prerana Hall, SJEC, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The event was coordinated by Ms. Sinchana K and Ms. Rakshitha P, along with student coordinators Ms. Sabrina Hehar and Mr. Amardeep Ekka. It was conducted in collaboration with the Cultural and Community Group and the Department of Civil Engineering.
The program began with a warm welcome to the resource person by Dr. Yajneshwaran, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, who offered a floral greeting, setting a gracious and respectful tone for the event.
To emphasize sustainability, eco-friendly seed pens were distributed to all participants at the start of the program, symbolizing a commitment to green living and environmental responsibility.
The highlight of the event was a captivating and inspiring session by Dr. Bhagya B. Sharma, Deputy Director, Centre for Environmental Studies, Yenepoya Institution, Deralakatte. Dr. Sharma delivered a compelling talk on the importance of environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and the critical role of individual responsibility in combating climate change. Her insights resonated strongly with the audience, encouraging thoughtful reflection and proactive engagement.
As part of the Earth Day celebrations, winners of the “Best Out of Waste” competition were also felicitated during the program. Dr. Bhagya B. Sharma presented the prizes to the winners:
The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, followed by a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable insights shared by the speaker and appreciating the collective efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success.
