Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EELS) in association with IEEE & IPSC organized an Hands-on workshop on " Patent Search & Prior Art Assessment” for VIII semester EEE students on 24.02.2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dr Sheryl Grace Colaco & Ms Madhavi Gatty of Electrical Department were the resource persons .
The objective of the workshop was to provide information about Patent search and analysis of claims. Dr Sheryl Colaco started the session with details of open patent databases from several regions. Ms Madhavi explained about performing practical searches in the USPTO, WIPO PATENSCOPE and ESPACENET databases. Different Patent Classification Systems with Novelty and Inventive Step Patentability Searches were discussed in the workshop. Also guided the students to perform Patent searches on their own technologies. The session was well appreciated by the students.
