A one day hands on training session on "Basics of Arduino” was organized by the department of Electrical and Electronics under EELs Association for the 3 rd year students. The objective of the training was to impart practical knowledge on working with Arduino microcontroller and its components. Mr Leswin D Souza, 8th sem, E& E was the main resource person. Mr John Pramith D Souza, Mr Glenal D Souza, Mr AnwithRaj Jain K from 8 th semester E&E volunteered the session. A total of 45 students participated in the session. The theory syllabus on microcontroller was limited to 8051 microcontroller for the 3 rd year students. To bridge the gap between the syllabus and the real world problem, this workshop was organised. The motive of training was to enhance knowledge on building projects using Arduino and to code the controller. A brief introduction was given on the Arduino uno and the simulator Arduino IDE. Participants were introduced to programming of arduino with simple code. Various sensors were introduced such as IR sensors, motion sensors and actuators such as LEDs, motors and servos which could be interfaced to Arduino . Participants were given hands on exercises to practice using these sensors. Participants also built an Ultrasonic sensor and IR sensor based detection and ranging circuits. The outcome of the training has enabled the 3rd year E&E students to gain an in-depth practical knowledge on using Arduino IDE for building their own mini projects and main project. The training session provided a great opportunity for people interested in electronics and robotics to lea new skills.
