The Discipline And Equity Group in association with Jagruti conducted an “Introductory session on Self-Defense Class” for all the female students and staff of SJEC on 25 October 2024 from 3pm to 4pm in the Spoorthi Hall. The resource person of this session was Ms Sabrina Hehar, III year CSE. A total of 50 students from the UG programme and 2 staff members were present for the session. The purpose of the class was to equip participants with practical skills and techniques to handle threatening situations effectively.

Objectives of the Class

The primary objectives of the self-defense class included:

  • Teaching basic self-defense techniques PUNCH for common threats.
  • Building situational awareness to identify and avoid potential dangers.
  • Boosting participants' confidence in managing high-stress situations.
  • Promoting the importance of physical fitness in self-defense.

The session began with light stretching and cardio exercises to prepare the body. Ms Sabrina emphasized the importance of fitness for swift responses during attacks. She also discussed how to remain aware of surroundings, avoid dangerous situations, and recognize early warning signs of potential threats. Participants practiced techniques through controlled role-play. This helped build confidence in applying the strategies learned.

This self-defense class was highly beneficial, offering both practical skills and mental preparation. It highlighted the importance of staying aware, avoiding risky situations, and being ready to act decisively if needed.

After the session refreshments were served to the participants.
