St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, hosted Milan 2026 on April 10, 2026, a magnificent celebration of cultural diversity that transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of artistic expression. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the student body through a seamless blend of music, dance, and creative competitions.

The day began at 9:30 AM with a grand inaugural ceremony attended by the management, faculty, and students. The campus was decorated with colorful artworks designed by students, creating a festive atmosphere at the entrance and throughout the grounds. The program officially commenced with the reveal of the Milan 2026 Logo, followed by an energetic Flash Mob and variety dance performances.

The Guest of Honour, Ms. Remona Evette Pereira (known as “The Golden Girl of Mangaluru”), captivated the audience with a magical classical dance performance that set a high bar for the day’s celebrations. Following the formal opening, Ms. Thrapthi and Ms. Aarsha Varghese led a series of fun games for staff and students, providing a spirited start to the festivities.

Throughout the day, the campus was abuzz with a wide array of events that allowed students to display their diverse talents. These competitions included: Artistic and Creative, Performance and Music, and Engagement Activities 

As the sun set, the festivities moved into a spectacular evening phase, beginning with a grand procession that set a high-energy tone for the stage performances. The evening showcase featured a diverse lineup, including:

  • A Solo Classical Dance by Namratha Jain.
  • A Thematic Dance by Ashton D’Mello & Team.
  • An elegant Mohiniattam performance by Greeshma & Team and a Kashmiri Dance by Toxic Beats.
  • Musical sets by Team Euphonia and a duet by Ananya & Team.

During the formal program, Principal Dr. Rio D’Souza reflected on the college’s 25-year journey, emphasizing how such cultural expressions foster energy and strong human values. Chief Guest Mr. Walter Nandalike, Founding & Managing Director of Daijiworld Media, delivered a motivational address, encouraging students to persevere through challenges by quoting Jack Ma: “today is difficult, tomorrow is more difficult, but the day after tomorrow is beautiful”. Another Chief Guest, Ln. Kishore D. Shetty, praised the institution for providing a platform that builds student confidence.

The night reached its crescendo with the Prize Distribution Ceremony, honoring winners of the various events held on April 9 and 10. The energy peaked with a Fusion Dance by the College Dance Team, followed by a thunderous Chende Fusion and an electrifying DJ session by Team Bassphase, which saw enthusiastic student participation.

The entire event was graced by Director Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Assistant Director Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ryner Crasta, and Dean Student Welfare Dr. Jyothi K. Coordinated by faculty convenors Dr. Prathima S and Mr. Chitharanjan M, along with student convenors Mr. Pratheek Moras and Ms. Renika Yathish, Milan 2026 successfully reinforced SJEC’s commitment to holistic development and student excellence.
