The Discipline And Equity Group in association with Jagruti conducted the “Screening of a Short movie SOS - Save Our Soul” for the students and staff of SJEC on Monday 04 November 2024 from 3pm to 4pm in the Prerana Hall. Mr Shivakumar K R, Police Inspector, Vamanjoor, Mr Achal Ubaradka, Actor and Director of the movie and Mr Aneesh Ganiga, Technical Advisor of the movie were present during the screening. A total of 80 students from the UG programme, 5 staff members and the Principal were present for the screening.
The primary goal of the event was to raise awareness about personal safety, focusing on practical strategies and important tips for maintaining safety in everyday life. The short movie was designed to engage the audience through relatable scenarios, highlighting common risks, preventative measures, and the importance of staying alert and informed about safety. The short film depicted a series of real-life situations where personal safety could be compromised, ranging from physical safety in public spaces to online security and mental health awareness. After the screening of the movie Mr Achal through his presentation explained an important feature in our smartphones called Emergency SOS. He demonstrated how to activate the emergency feature to the participants gathered there. Following this Mr Shivakumar K R, Police Inspector, Vamanjoor, gave various real life examples of cyber crime happening these days and asked the participants to be cautious. The Principal Dr Rio DSouza thanked the guests and the participants.
The screening of the short movie on personal safety awareness was successful in achieving its objectives. The film not only educated viewers on the importance of staying safe but also empowered them with actionable steps they can take to protect themselves.
