The 20th Graduation Ceremony

The 20th Graduation Ceremony of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, was held on 20 September 2025 in the Kalam Auditorium in two sessions. Degrees were conferred on 580 BE graduates and 4 Ph.D. awardees from the Class of 2025.

Dr. Suresh H. Jangamshetti, Vice Chancellor, Haveri University, and Prof. K. N. S. Acharya, Pro-Vice Chancellor, GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru Campus, graced the event as Chief Guests and presented the degree certificates. Ms. Lyvia Cardoza, Associate Director – WNS Analytics, and Mr. Anup D’Silva, Director, Techno Links Global FZ LLC, were the Guests of Honour. Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore and President of SJEC, presided over the ceremony.

Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guests and Guests of Honour were introduced by Dr. K. Jyothi, Dean – Student Welfare (morning session), and Dr. Sudheer M, Dean – Academics (evening session).

In their addresses, Ms. Cardoza urged graduates to stay curious, embrace change, and keep learning, while Mr. D’Silva highlighted Industry 4.0 and the need to adapt creatively. Dr. Jangamshetti encouraged graduates to uphold values, avoid shortcuts, and serve society, and Prof. Acharya emphasized courage, curiosity, and collaboration in the age of AI.

Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal, administered the graduation oath. Valedictorians Ms. Charis Pinto, Ms. Sharon Tyana Menezes, Ms. Havala P. N., and Ms. Sinchana K. C. shared reflections on their academic journeys. Rank holders and achievers in academics and sports were honoured by the Bishop, who also felicitated the dignitaries.

In his Presidential Address, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha advised graduates to continue learning, lead stress-free lives, dream big, and remain connected to their alma mater.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Subramanya K, Convenor of the ceremony. The program was compered by Ms. Lauline D’Souza, Mr. Franco Menezes, Mr. Joel D’Mello, and Ms. Himani Kishan Raj. SJEC extends best wishes to the Class of 2025 for their future endeavours.
