Day 1 – Thursday, 21 August 2025
The workshop commenced with sessions on the Fundamentals of Hydraulics & Automation.
- Morning Sessions: Mr. Joel Dmello explained the principle of hydraulic systems (Pascal’s law), system structure, component functions, pumps, control valves, and actuators, along with industrial applications. This was followed by Mr. Prathviraj H and Mr. Prashanth Kumar, who guided participants through hydraulic circuit design and various circuit configurations.
- Afternoon Sessions: Mr. Rajesh Belchada and Dr. Sushanth H. G demonstrated FluidSIM 5 Pneumatic software, enabling students to visualize pneumatic circuits. The day concluded with a hands-on demo of FESTO Workbench by Dr. Swaraj D. Lewis and Mr. Rajesh Belchada, where participants interacted with industrial-grade automation tools.
Day 2 – Friday, 22 August 2025
The second day was dedicated to Pneumatics and Electro-Pneumatics.
- Morning Sessions: Mr. Prashanth Kumar and Mr. Prathviraj H introduced the theory of pneumatics, explaining system structures, compressors, FRL units, accumulators, control valves, actuators, and pneumatic circuit design. This was followed by a hands-on pneumatics session conducted by Dr. Swaraj D. Lewis and Dr. Sushanth H. G.
- Afternoon Sessions: The focus shifted to Electro-pneumatics. Participants learned about integrating electrical controls with pneumatic systems, followed by hands-on practice sessions on electro-pneumatics, enhancing their understanding of automation processes.
Day 3 –Saturday, 23 August 2025
The final day emphasized PLC programming and industrial applications.
- Morning Sessions: Dr. Binu K. G and Dr. Rolvin D’Silva introduced PLC programming concepts and trained participants on Ladder Diagrams, providing a foundation in industrial automation control logic.
- Afternoon Sessions: Mr. Rajesh Belchada and Dr. Sushanth H. G demonstrated TIA Portal v15.1 software, showcasing real-time PLC simulation. The workshop concluded with a demo on FESTO Workbench by Dr. Ravikantha Prabhu and Dr. Ashwin Shetty, where participants observed automation integration with industrial hardware.
Outcome
The 3-day workshop provided diploma students with hands-on exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, and PLC programming, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Students gained confidence in working with industrial automation tools and software, preparing them for future industry challenges.
