About

"Education is about the desire to learn, not the obligation."

According to me, education is to nurture and encourage the lifelong learning of my students. Most students have been in a classroom setting where they wished they hadn't asked a question or added to the discussion. Students are either shy or are self-conscious and worry about what their peers would think if they ask silly questions. I prompt students to think creatively and make them feel that no question is too silly to be asked.

Learning mathematics is a process. At its core, I believe excelling in mathematics is beyond content mastery. Hence I work hard towards creating a conducive learning environment for my students. To accomplish this, at the beginning of each semester, I explain to my students that I expect them to take an active role in solving mathematical problems in the classroom, ask questions, and go beyond the material presented in the classroom. In addition to keeping track of students participation in the classroom, I access them through class tests.

I believe that a good relationship between teacher and student makes a good learning environment. If the students like their teacher and feel that the teacher is friendly to them, then they share their problem with the teacher. This helps the teacher to modify the way of teaching. Everyone is capable of learning, but this capability depends upon the variety of ways mathematics is presented. So, I prefer to use variety in my teaching style which can suit to the particular class.

I always encourage students to work in groups and praise them for mastery of materials. As an educator, I value creative thinking almost as much as content mastery. Frequently, I collect feedback from students about my class presentation. I regularly stress my commitment to continual improvement and encourage students to believe that they need to promote learning for understanding in mathematics.
