The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from 18 to 22 August 2026 for faculty members and researchers. The programme was conducted in a blended mode, comprising both offline and online sessions.

The FDP featured expert sessions by resource persons from MathWorks, CoreEL Technologies India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, and reputed academic and research institutions.

From 18 to 20 August, Dr Riyaz A. Rahiman and Mr Dhanoop K. Dhanpal from MathWorks/CoreEL Technologies India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, conducted sessions on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning – MATLAB Toolboxes for Applications in Electrical Engineering.”

On 21 August, Dr Subramanya Bhat, Associate Professor, NMAMIT, Nitte University, delivered a session on “AI for Signal Processing”.  Dr Mary Ann George, Research Assistant, Qatar University, Doha, conducted a session on “No-Code AI with KNIME: Building Data Science Solutions.”

The programme also featured a talk by Dr Vinay Kumar Jadoun, Additional Professor and Assistant Dean – Research, on “AI-Enabled Virtual Power Plants: Technical Challenges, Intelligent Applications, and Mitigation Strategies.”

The FDP provided participants with valuable insights into emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in engineering, signal processing, data science, and intelligent power systems.
