IEEE: MATLAB Day

 

SJEC MATLAB and IEEE SJEC Student Branch is association with MATHWORKS conducted the MATLAB day for faculty on Sept 6, 2018 at CAED Lab, Academic Block III. The resource person for the hands-on session on MATLAB was Mr. Pramod Naik, Senior Application Engineer for Mathworks products at CoreEL Technologies, Bengaluru. 15 faculty members participated in the workshop. Ms Rashmi H, SJEC MATLAB coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Mr Ajeeth B, Assistant Professor, Dept of Civil Engg, introduced the speaker to the audience. Dr Sridevi Saralaya, HOD , CSE, florally welcomed the speaker. The main topics covered by the resource person were Control System Design & Analysis, Mathematical modelling of DC motor, Inteet of Things Overview, Creating writing and reading data from ThingSpeak Channel, Writing to ThinkgSpeak Channel, Hands on Interfacing Arduino with DC motor, LED & Speed Control of DC Motor with help of MATLAB, constructing Simulink Models The session began at 10:00 am and ended at 4:45 pm. Dr Savitha H M presented a memento to the resource person. "MATLAB DAY" for students was conducted on Sept 7, 2018 at Bishop Aloysius Paul Hall. The Resource person was Ms Naini Dawar, an Educational Technical Evangelist at MathWorks India The hands-on session provided the participants an experience about the new capabilities of MATLAB and Simulink in the past few releases. The new features in MATLAB include an Interactive Live Editor, App Designer, data acquisition from mobile devices and capabilities for Data Analytics, Machine Leaing and Deep Leaing. The new features in Simulink include the connectivity with hardware like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, LEGO MINDSTORM and Android and iOS devices. The session started at 10:00 am. Ms Rashmi H, SJEC MATLAB coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Mr Ajeeth B, Assistant Professor, Dept of Civil Engg, introduced the speaker to the audience. Mr Sunil Kamath, Assoc. Professor, CSE florally welcomed the resourse person. Mr Pramod Naik also joined the session and assisted the main resource person. The handson session included sessions on Live Editor, Building UIs using MATLAB, Simulink Hands-on Session, Introduction to System Modeling using Simulink and Simscape, Introduction to System Modeling using Simulink and Simscape, Hardware Connectivity with Simulink, Coding Competition, Q & A and Discussion. The session ended at 5:00 pm, with Ms Rashmi H handing over a memento to the resource person .
