The Department of Intelligent Computing and Business Systems (ICBS) in association with IEEE SJEC Student Chapter, organized a workshop on “LLM in Industrial Standpoint” at Prerana Hall, for ICBS faculties and students on 13-05-2024 during 10:00 am-04:00 pm. Mr. Muthumanickavel Swaminathan, Lead Data Scientist, Cognizant, UK was the resource person for the event. Dr. Shreenath Acharya delivered the presidential address.

The session was to make the staffs and students of ICBS aware of the latest trends in industry, especially LLM (Large Language Model) which is the key element in ChatGPT that everyone is using now. In the morning session, the class started with the introduction of machine learning and deep learning and the potential markets based on the technology. The agenda of the workshop was introduciton to Generative AI, building blocks of LLM, deep dive into Transformers and attention models, LLM model training and fine-tuning. Along with the explanation of LLM, types of LLMs, its application, its training data size and resource requirement etc also described. He made the students aware about the importance of identifying a real-life problem statement while doing the project and research.  Several real-life usecases that can be turned into student project have been discussed in the class.  Different webistes which will be helpful to start learning LLM espacially ‘Deeplearning.ai’ have been shown during the class.

In the afternon session he shown some demo in LLM along with its source code. During demo, he used “Trustpilot” as the example which is good review summarizer through which the user will get trusted reviews about banks, restaurants, cloth stores, car dealers etc. Also, he discussed about the Edge AI devices which can be used as day-to-day problem solution in many situations. At the end he showed a computer vision project that he has done. It is a tool to identify the diseases in fishes in his aquarium which was built by getting inspired from a large project which is used in sub-marine fish identification.

Students interacted with him and asked so many questions regarding the LLM and computer vision problems that can be converted into their project. At the end of session, Dr. Shreenath Acharya honored Mr Muthumanickavel Swaminathan and Ms. Saleena T S concluded the session with vote of thanks.
