The SJEC–AICTE IDEA Lab and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, in association with the Industry and Innovation Group and the Institution’s Innovation Council, organized a four-day Hands-on Workshop on “Process Automation and Computational Tools for Engineers” from 23 to 26 February 2026 at the IoT Lab (Room 2203, AB-2). The workshop was conducted for AEC course faculty members with the objective of strengthening their practical knowledge in automation technologies and computational tools relevant to engineering applications.
The programme commenced on 23 February 2026 with sessions on Robotic Process Automation and AI Tools, handled by Mr Joysun D’souza (EEE) and Dr Binu K G (Mechanical Engineering). The sessions focused on introducing automation concepts and demonstrating AI-driven tools for engineering problem-solving. On 24 February 2026, Dr Vijay V S and Mr Yathish Kumar K (Mechanical Engineering) conducted hands-on training on Structural and Thermal Analysis using ANSYS, providing practical exposure to simulation techniques and engineering analysis methods. The third day, 25 February 2026, featured sessions on the Application of MATLAB and SIMULINK to Electrical Systems by Ms Nandini Maninarayana and Ms Aaryashri (ECE), where participants explored modelling and simulation of electrical and control systems. The workshop concluded on 26 February 2026 with a session on Data Analysis using Excel by Mr Ananta Rohith Bhat (MBA), focusing on data handling, visualization, and analytical tools useful for academic and research activities.
Each day’s sessions were conducted from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM and included practical demonstrations and guided hands-on exercises to ensure effective learning. The workshop provided faculty members with interdisciplinary exposure to automation, simulation, computational modelling, and data analysis tools, thereby enhancing their capability to integrate modern engineering tools into teaching and research. The programme was coordinated by Dr Vijay V S, and it concluded with positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the practical orientation and relevance of the sessions.
