SJEC shines at IPLEX 2019

 

The faculty members, alumni and students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, were invited and given a chance to display their recycling projects at 10th Edition of Inteational Plastics Exposition 2019 (IPLEX 2019) held in Bengaluru Inteational Exhibition Centre (BIEC), from 23rd to 25th August 2019.

The following projects were exhibited during the event:

1) Development of Waste Plastic Lumber & Bricks using Commingled (Mixed) Waste Plastics and Single-Use Waste Plastics

2) Development of Low-cost building materials using composite made from Demolished Building Material (DBM) Waste and Waste Plastic

The exhibits drew a very good response from the audience that included participants from Govement, Industry, Investors, general public and foreign delegates from Nepal, Sri Lanka, China, Canada, Germany, etc. who very much appreciated and commended the efforts of the college in developing the systems in upcycling of waste plastics.

Mr Noel D Shiri, Assistant Professor-Mechanical Engineering, along with alumni of Mechanical Engineering, Mr Darryl D’Souza and Mr Keegan Dion Santhmayor and current students namely Mr Mohammed Sinan and Mr Grenvil Noronha participated in the exhibition. From the Department of Civil Engineering Mr Prashant Kurdekar, Assistant Professor and alumni Ms Vishikha Keshav were also present.

Important delegates who visited SJEC stall included Shri D V Sadananda Gowda, Honourable Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizer, Govement of India, Convenors and Organizers of IPLEX 2019, KSPA President Mr Vijaya Kumar and KASSIA President Mr R Raju among others.
