The NSS and YRC (Youth Red Cross) wing of SJEC-Mangaluru had organized a fund raising campaign to provide financial assistance to help Mr Abhishek Prasanna, S/O Late Mr Gurudatt and Mrs Jayanthi, aged 15 and pursuing his education at NMPT - Panambur. Abhishek was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia-Blood Cancer). A total sum of Rs 1,38,650 /- has been raised from the College. Rev. Fr Joseph J. Lobo, Director - SJEC handed over the cheque to Mrs Jayanthi on 12 th April, 2017. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis – Principal-SJEC, Rev. Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director-SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal-SJEC, and Mr Godfrey E. Pinto, HR Manager – SJEC, along with all the NSS & YRC volunteers were present on the occasion. SJEC prays for the speedy recovery of Abhishek.
On the same day, an amount of Rs 10,000/- was handed over to Mr Shekar from Nitte, as financial support for his physically challenged children, Prajwal and Pratheeksha. The amount was raised as proceedings from the Food and Games Stalls that were installed by NSS and YRC during the SJEC Annual Athletic Meet Go-For-Gold 2017 on 16 February 2017.
