Talk on Innovation and Entrepreneurship

 

Prodigi-ECE Students’ Association in association with Industry and Innovation Group (IIG) organized a talk on "Innovation & Entrepreneurship" for III, IV year ECE students, faculty and students from other departments on 2 March 2020 from 11:00AM to 1PM in the Kalam Auditorium. The Resource Person for the talk was Dr Manesh Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, Manipal-Govement of Kaataka Bioincubator, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

Prodigi-ECE Students’ Association in association with Industry and Innovation Group (IIG) organized a talk on "Innovation & Entrepreneurship" for III, IV year ECE students, faculty and students from other departments on 2 March 2020 from 11:00AM to 1PM in the Kalam Auditorium. The Resource Person for the talk was Dr Manesh Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, Manipal-Govement of Kaataka Bioincubator, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The program began with Dr Dayakshini , HOD-ECE welcoming Dr Manesh Thomas florally. Talk by Dr Manesh Thomas mainly concentrated on the role of Technology Business Incubator (TBI) for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Dr Thomas briefed the audience about the concept of Bio-Incubators and how it can help and encourage students and faculty to have a successful Start Up. He also spoke about the monetary benefits that are available for the same. The talk also concentrated on the future innovations and types of innovations in various domains and also the requirement of deep science for real innovation. Basic and applied research are the key factors for innovation. Needs for innovation include problem, ideas, research, access, mentor support, set up team, finance and business expertise, resolving conflicts, clear strategy, legal review and association with incubators. Innovation should mainly concentrate on the problems or needs of the present and future. Dr Manesh Thomas also spoke about patents, steps involved in filing patents and the need for this to have a successful business model. He listed the reasons and common mistakes for failure of innovation. Main idea of the talk was to believe in the idea and to carry it forward in the right direction to establish a successful business. Session was interactive and well appreciated by the students. Dr Jagadeesha R B, Associate Professor, Department of ECE handed over the memento and letter of appreciation to Dr Manesh Thomas. Ms Sadhika Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE compered the program. Prodigi Coordinators, Ms Vijayalaxmi H M and Ms Chaitra U R coordinated the program.
