The Department of Physical Education along with the Sports Advisory Committee organized Elocution Competition-2024 as a part of Independence Day Celebration 2024 to all BE & PG students on 12 August 2024 at Prerana Hall from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm on the topic “Youth and the Future of Nation”. Ms Priya Miranda, Mr Chitharanjan M, Sports Advisors-SJEC and Ms Vaneesha V Rodrigues, PED –SJEC were the coordinators. A total of 12 students registered for the competition.

 

The rules for the competition were as follows.

1.     Languages: The competition was conducted in English, Kannada, or Hindi.

2.     Speech Duration: Speeches were limited to a maximum of four minutes.

·        A short bell was rung at the end of the 3rd minute to signal time remaining.

·        A long bell was rung at the end of the 4th minute, signalling the participant to conclude their speech.

3.     Judging Criteria: Participants were judged on:

·        Content

·        Body language

·        Clarity of words

·        Time management

4.     Judges' Decision: The decision of the judges was final.

 

The Elocution Competition 2024 successfully showcased the students’ perspectives on the future of the nation, reflecting their understanding of India's progress and potential. The event was well-received, with thoughtful and impactful speeches delivered by all participants.

The prize winners of the competition were as follows.

 

I Place Ms Anitha Mascarenhas, II year CSBS

II Place - Mr Akarsh G B, III year E&E,

III Place – Ms Aarshamol Babu Varghese, II year CSBS

 

Every participant was awarded a participation certificate and memento.

Ms Florence Nishmitha thanked the judges and all the participants for their active participation. The event concluded with the prize distribution.
