As part of the Independence Day Celebrations 2025, the Department of Physical Education, in association with the Sports Advisory Committee, organized the Elocution Competition – 2025 for all B.E. and PG students. The event took place on 13th August 2025 at Prerana Hall, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, on the topic “The Importance of Patriotism in Today’s World.” The event was coordinated by Mr. Chitharanjan M, Ms. Himani Kishan Raj (Sports Advisors – SJEC), and Ms. Vaneesha V Rodrigues (Physical Education Director – SJEC). A total of 15 students registered and participated in the competition.
The competition was conducted with the following rules:
1. Languages: Participants could choose to speak in English, Kannada, or Hindi.
2. Speech Duration:
o Maximum time allowed was 4 minutes.
o A short bell was rung at the end of the 3rd minute to indicate one-minute remaining.
o A long bell was rung at the 4th minute to signal the end of the speech.
3. Judging Criteria:
o Content
o Body Language
o Clarity of Words
o Time Management
4. Judges’ Decision: The decision of the judges was final and binding.
Event Highlights
The competition provided a platform for students to express their views on patriotism in today’s dynamic global environment. Participants delivered insightful and impactful speeches, reflecting their thoughts on India's progress and vision for the future.
The event was compered by Ms. Prajna K, Assistant Professor – Mathematics. The competition was judged by Dr. Anjali Ganesh, Professor – MBA and Dr. Subramanya K, Assistant Professor – EEE
Dr. Anjali Ganesh appreciated all the participants for their well-articulated speeches and commended their efforts. She remarked that the competition was highly competitive, making it challenging for the judges to select the winners.

· Third Place – Ms. Thrapthi B K, I Year CSE
All participants received a participation certificate and a memento as a token of appreciation for their efforts and enthusiasm.
Ms. Prajna delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the judges, participants, and organizers. The event concluded successfully with the prize distribution ceremony.
