The Republic Day was celebrated with great pride and enthusiasm on 26 January at SJEC. The occasion marked the adoption of the Constitution of India and reflected the spirit of unity, democracy, and patriotism among students and staff. The Republic Day of our Nation was celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit in SJEC at 8:30 am in the Basketball Court. Dr Melwyn D’Souza HOD CSE -SJEC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza - Director SJEC, Rev. Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta Asst Director – SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal – SJEC, were the other dignitaries present for the occasion.
This year marked a significant milestone as the Army Wing was included in the parade for the first time, along with the SJEC Air Wing and SJEC Naval Wing. The dignitaries were escorted to the flag post by Leading CDT Ananya Y Dinne, CDT Madhura Keshav Gowda, CDT Dhrathika, and CDT Bhavana B.G.
As per tradition, the Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag. Parade Commander, Cadet senior under officer Jeevith K. J. of SJEC Air Wing led the gathering in saluting the National Flag and rendering the National Anthem.
Parade Commander, Cadet senior under officer Jeevith K. J. of SJEC Air Wing requested the Chief Guest to carry out the inspection of the SJEC NCC Troops. The Chief Guest and the dignitaries were escorted by the Cadets for the Troop inspection. Then with due permission from the Chief Guest, the troops with pride and enthusiasm gave the Guard of Honour led by the parade commanders of SJEC Army, Air and Naval Wings.
Dr. Melwyn D’Souza, the Chief Guest of the Republic Day celebration, delivered an inspiring address in which he appreciated the discipline, dedication, and impressive marching displayed by the cadets. He emphasized that students should inculcate the same qualities in their academic pursuits, as this would help them achieve greater heights. He also urged the students to use the freedom they have gained responsibly for the welfare of the nation, nature, and society as a whole.
The patriotic spirit was elevated by beautiful patriotic songs rendered by the College Choir. This was followed by the vote of thanks. With the permission of the Chief Guest, the Cadet Commander then carried out the dispersal of the troops, followed by the distribution of sweets. The programme was compered by Aarshamol Babu Varghes
