St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, proudly hosted the VTU Mangaluru Division Men and Women Shuttle Badminton Tournament 2025-26 on 8 September 2025 at the Global Badminton Arena, Vamanjoor.

The event began with a formal inauguration ceremony, marked by a soulful prayer song invoking divine blessings. The event was graced by Dr Sudheer M, Dean Academics, SJEC, who served as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, Dr Sudheer highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and leadership among students. He emphasized the role of such tournaments in building camaraderie and a spirit of healthy competition. He concluded his speech by extending his best wishes to all the participants for their success and growth, both on and off the court.

Ms Himani Kishan Raj, Sports Advisor at SJEC, delivered the welcome address, while Ms Vaneesha Vidya Rodrigues, Physical Education Director, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was efficiently compered by Ms Trisha Veigas, a student of IV Year CSDS.

The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC, who served as the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr Kenneth Ryanar Crasta, Assistant Director, SJEC, and Mr Rajesh Walter Veigas Proprietor of the Global Arena, was the Guest of Honour. Fr D’Souza congratulated the winners and participants, commending their dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship. He encouraged students to continue engaging in sports alongside academics to foster holistic development.

Mr. Sudheer M, Assistant Physical Education Director, SJEC, proposed the vote of thanks during the closing ceremony. Tournament officials were felicitated with tokens of appreciation by the Director, in recognition of their contributions to the successful execution of the event.

The dignitaries then distributed trophies to the winners and runners-up in both the men’s and women’s categories.
