The event occurred in the Webinar Hall and featured Dr. Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal, SJEC, as the invited speaker. Dr. Purushothama Chippar focused on the methodologies and best practices for developing effective research problem statements by leveraging strategic searches in academic articles and patents. Dr. Chippar started by explaining the significance of a problem statement in research, emphasizing its role in setting the direction and scope of a study. A significant portion of the workshop focused on patent searches, which are crucial for ensuring originality in research. Dr. Chippar introduced various patent databases, such as Google Patents and the European Patent Office (EPO) database. The importance of understanding patent claims and their implications for research was highlighted, along with a live demonstration of a patent search on the lens.org website.
