The Department of Civil Engineering organised an industrial visit to Nirmithi Kendra, Surathkal on 23rd September 2019 for second year students. A total of 62 students participated in the visit. Mr Govinda Krishna M, Ms Apoorva K V and Mr Bhaskar S accompanied the students during the visit.
The visit was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and visualization of use of alteative building materials with appropriate technologies. The technical staff of Nirmithi Kendra welcomed the students and faculty. The visit helped students in knowing about many alteative technologies which reduces the cost of construction and which can conserve energy by recycling of waste materials. Students were exposed to conservation of rainwater by rainwater harvesting. The Model House made up of cost effective building materials was shown to students. Additionally, the practical aspects of construction were explained by giving on-site demonstration of arch construction.
